Notice Regarding EMD Switcher: NW2 & SW7

***This notice applies to certain DCC users only.***
In addition, this notice only applies to those customers with software labeled: ho101f12.

On some, but not all, EMD Switcher Units (stk#'s: 632-667), customers may experience a momentary silencing of the sound system and/or a short circuit of the DCC System when changing directions via the DCC System at any throttle setting other than zero (0)--due to a software bug. This bug exists only in certain units with software labeled ho101f12. Customers who are not experiencing this issue (even when equipped with software ho101f12) are unaffected and no action is necessary at this time.

Remedies:

Option 1. (Recommended) If you have a unit that is exhibiting the symptoms indicated above: The locomotive will only misbehave in the event that the direction is switched on a Speed Step other than zero (0). Therefore, throttling down to zero (0) prior to changing directions will solve this issue.

Option 2. If you have a unit that is exhibiting the symptoms indicated above: A software replacement is available for those who would rather not throttle down prior to changing directions. To have this software sent to you, please first double-check the existing software in your unit. If the label reads "ho101f12", please click here and email BLI for further details on how to receive the software replacement. If you are uncomfortable replacing software yourself, please view Option 3 below.

Option 3. If you have a unit that is exhibiting the symptoms indicated above: A software replacement is available for those who would rather not throttle down prior to changing directions. To have this software installed, please send your unit to:

Please properly insure the unit and include a return shipping address. While the software upgrade is FREE, customers are responsible for freight charges to BLI. BLI will cover domestic return freight charges via UPS Ground. Sorry, Option 3 is not available to international customers.
